Outreach

Welcome to the new Outreach page!

Here you will find events and resources to assist you in obeying “The Great Commission” found in Matthew 28:18-20, “And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ ”

Testimony Tools

Have you ever taken the time to write down your salvation testimony in a concise format? Maybe you don’t know where to start. Your testimony is a powerful tool for sharing your faith with others.

How To Create Your Story

Start by writing or recording the answers to the following questions:

  • What was your life like before you met Christ?
  • How and when did you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior?
  • How has your life changed since you accepted Christ?

What was your life like before you met Christ?

You might have an answer like this: “I had no peace. I was addicted to [fill in the blank: food, sex, approval, drugs, alcohol,]. I had no hope in my future. I was lonely…” Or, “A friend reached out to me when I hit rock bottom. He didn’t judge me–he just said he knew Someone who could help me get my life together…” Or, “I knew this person in my life who always had joy even during her bad days, and I asked her why, and she shared with me about her relationship with Christ…” Or, even though I always thought of myself as a good person, a friend helped me to realize I was not measuring my goodness by God’s standards, she gave me a simple test that helped me to realize that because I had lied, I was considered a liar, because I had taken things that weren’t mine, I was the same as a thief, because…”

Here are some other questions to get you thinking: What was the theme in your life at this time? What were your early experiences with church and how did that affect you as you grew up? What were you thinking as you began to consider whether Jesus Christ was who He said He is? What fears or reservations did you have about Christianity?

How and when did you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior?

When you heard the message, what part stands out in your memory as significant towards your decision?. Did you decide all at once, or did your decision come gradually? Were you alone or with friends? Maybe it happened at an event? Was it a Sunday service, a small group meeting, a concert? Or perhaps it was a private encounter with God, at the beach or in your home. How did you feel once you had made the decision?

How has your life changed since you accepted Christ?

Think about how knowing Christ has enriched your life: “Now I have peace.” “Now I am not addicted to [whatever].” “Now I know God has a purpose for my life, and it’s [fill in the blank].” “Now I’m not lonely, and I’ve joined a small group who truly care about me.” “Now I have joy because I am serving in a ministry that I have an interest in, and meeting people who love God and encourage me.” “Now everything isn’t totally perfect, and I still mess up sometimes, but my life has changed from being self-centered to trusting God and the people in my life…”

Important Tips

  • Our testimony must be subordinate to the objective truth of the Gospel and in agreement with it.
  • Try to have at least one scripture memorized that pertains to your experience.
  • You don’t have to share the entire testimony, just have it ready, the Holy Spirit may lead you to share specific parts tailored to your conversation.
  • Supernatural help comes when you share the truth of what Jesus did and what happened to you, expect it!
